The Dead Sea Scrolls

The Dead Sea Scrolls: 2,000-year-old biblical manuscripts found near the Dead Sea, now in Amman.

The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered from 1947 near the Dead Sea, are among the most important ancient manuscripts ever found — 2,000-year-old copies of biblical and sectarian texts. Jordan holds a significant share, including the rare copper scroll found in Cave 3 in 1952.

The Jordan Museum in Amman displays selected scrolls. Travellers who hire car & driver in Jordan visit them easily, and full package tours to Jordan include the museum alongside the Dead Sea sites that produced the finds.
